CranioSacral Therapy
CranioSacral Therapy (CST), developed by osteopathic doctor
John Upledger, requires a light touch to correct imbalances
in the membranes in which cerebrospinal fluid circulates.
Patients remain fully clothed as the therapist applies gentle
pressure to the skull and key tissues of the body. CST is
particularly effective for treating headaches, neck and shoulder
problems, swelling and many other conditions.
Shoulder Joint Treatment
More intensive treatment of the shoulder joint addresses problems
that afflict anyone at any time, given the involvement of
the shoulder in nearly every daily activity. Sixteen muscles
are directly connected to the shoulder joint and constriction
in any one of them affects the rest, creating discomfort and
dysfunction. Deep, slow continuous pressure in the proper
places releases constrictions created by working at a computer
for long periods of time, repetitive lifting and carrying
activities, or even sudden traumas such as a fall.
Prenatal / Post Delivery Massage
As pregnancy progresses and daily activities are continued,
the pregnant body becomes misaligned. Pre-natal massage techniques
to achieve realignment and relieve discomfort take into consideration
contraindications during pregnancy. After birth, massage helps
ease the aches and pains the body experiences in recovery,
and special techniques help the uterus return to its normal
shape and size. Expecting and new mothers can also expect
to learn some self-massage techniques.
Stone Massage
Stone massage involves the use of heated and chilled stones
to give the client a more intensive massage experience. Heat
is received more deeply in the muscle and is very effective
for reducing stress. Cold stones are good for swelling. A
massage with stones usually takes about an hour and a half,
but is well worth the time.
